The marketing of “Cannabis Light” began two years ago, regulated by law 242 of 2016. The trade of “Cannabis Light” recorded a turnover of 40 million in 2018, and the number of Grow Shops and vending machines handling it quickly increased to around 1000 stores throughout Italy.

On the other hand, there is a vast body of scientific and forensic literature that sets the THC limit below which no psychoactive effect is detectable. The same circular from the Ministry of the Interior in July 2018 mentions this limit: “For cannabis, both forensic toxicology and scientific literature identify this threshold around 5 mg of THC, which, in percentage, is equal to 0.5%… It follows that quantities equal to 5 mg of THC per single dose or ingestion would theoretically attribute the remarkable nature of the substance to the considered inflorescences.”
