The Illinois women's basketball team leaves Monday for a ten-day trip to Italy. The Illini will play four games against Italian teams beginning on Wednesday in Rome. Games are also scheduled in Pisa, Mestre and Milan.

Assistant coach Marsha Freese says the trip will be a good chance for the young squad to develop team chemistry. The Illini will have only two seniors -- Erin Wigley and Audrey Tabon -- next season.

Guard Lori Bjork says the team views the trip as part work, part vacation. She says the games against international competition will help establish roles and bring the team together.

Wigley says winning will be important, too. She says the trip will be "pretty sour" if the Illini travel all that way just to lose.
