The Italian Almanac
Italian News - April 6
An Italian woman turned up for a heart check-up last Friday in Bolzano, to find out she was exactly ten years late because of a postal delay.
The 65-year-old was sure she was in the right place at the right time: the local health center at 14:00 on March 29. Clerks couldn't figure out why the appointment hadn't been logged in until they looked at the letter's postmark and discovered it had been sent out in March 1996.
Inquiries over the weekend established that the letter had been lying in a nearby post office for ten years.
The woman, who has a heart condition, lives about 50km from the health center. "I'm a bit annoyed at the postal service but glad to find out my health hasn't got any worse," she said.
