Mario Balotelli

Bad Temper

Italy boss Cesare Prandelli said that Manchester City forward Mario Balotelli risks missing Euro 2012 unless he gets a grip on his temper. Prandelli did not call up the 21-year-old for friendly against the United States in Genoa after he was recently given a four-match ban for stamping a player in the face in a Premier League game for City - the latest in a long series of incidents of indiscipline. The coach also left out AS Roma's Pablo Osvaldo after he was sent off in AS Roma's 4-1 defeat at Atalanta on Sunday for kicking the opponent in an off-the-ball incident.

"The players know that they risk their call-up for Euro 2012 like this," Prandelli, who introduced a code of conduct for his players when he took over as Italy coach in 2010, told reporters. "It don't want to see any more kicks or punches in retaliation. It's a sign of weakness. We cannot have someone in the national team who risks leaving the team in 10 (because he gets sent off) at the European championships".

Prandelli added that he was disappointed neither Balotelli nor Osvaldo had called him.
