Ferrari Academy

The Ferrari Formula One team announced that it will run a drivers' 'university' which will select and train new race drivers not only from a technical and professional standpoint but also a human one. The Ferrari Drivers Academy project has been put in the hands of the Formula 1 team's chief track engineer Luca Baldisserri and will guide students through various race classes starting with go-karts and up to Grand Prix racing.

"The goal of this project is very clear: raise these young drivers so that they can one day defend Ferrari's colors in the Formula 1 World Championship," observed Ferrari Team Principal Stefano Domenicalli. "And we want to do this in an original way, working 360 degrees with these young people in order to prepare them to deal with every aspect in competitive automobile racing today," he added.

The academy already has its first student: Jules Bianchi, the winner of this year's drivers title in the Formula 3 Euroseries championship.
