a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti

Chocolate Ferrari

A Ferrari made entirely of chocolate has been made by a confectioner here in this central italian city and will be auctioned off at Ferrari headquarters in Maranello later this month to raise money for charity.

It took Pietro Napoleone two weeks to make a copy of the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti on a 1/5 scale, 120cm by 45cm, using bittersweet Perugina chocolate. The car will be auctioned off June 23. Napoleone has been an instructor at Perugina's chocolate-making school since 2003 and is currently collaborating on a film about the treat.

Aside from its course on making chocolate, pastries and ice cream, the Perugina school also does research and development work on new products for its parent company Nestle'. Perugina is one of Italy leading confectioners and is best know for its Baci (kisses).
