One of Italy's oldest producers of sugared almonds - a delicacy traditionally given to wedding guests - is moving with the times by putting a 'Gay Bride' product on the market.
The idea for non-heterosexual couples is the brainchild of Pelino, a family business which has produced so-called 'confetti' since 1783. Pelino is based in the central Italian town of Sulmona, the traditional home of confetti production.
The smooth, sweet exterior of the new almonds will have a lilac hue, the unusual color being a mixture of pink and sky-blue, the color most frequently associated with male and female.
The key ingredients used by Pelino are almonds from San Francisco, sugar cane from Brazil and natural vanilla from the Caribbean.
