To every young woman who's crossed her fingers and said, "Someday my prince will come," "someday" could be about to arrive. Next week, open casting calls will be held as the makers of The Bachelor search for candidates to date an Italian prince.
Prince Lorenzo Borghese is "Americanized, 33, and ready to find a princess to settle down with," says Robyn Kass, overseer of the casting calls. "He's a catch and a prince and he's good looking. He's very funny. It's going to be a great season."
What Kass is looking for are women 21 to 35 who feel they're ready to live happily ever after with someone of royal descent. "We want successful women, determined women, strong women," Kass said. "We want big energy, we want charismatic, but the most important thing is we want women who are at a place in their lives where they're ready to find their soul mate and are ready to consider the possibility of marriage."
Borghese is a U.S. citizen who has lived in Manhattan since 1997. He was born in Milan, lived in Rome and outside Paris, then moved to Connecticut when he was 5. He is the son of Prince Francesco and Princess Amanda Borghese, who will celebrate their 40th anniversary in July. His paternal ancestors include Pope Paul V (Camillo Borghese) and Cardinal Scipione Borghese.
