Ethiopia’s Berhane Adere won the 30th edition of the traditional Silvesterlauf 5km road race in Bolzano, Italy.

The women’s race, which was nearly an All African affair, saw Kenya’s Edith Masai as second, while third was another Ethiopian, Merima Denboba.

Italian quartet of Renate (16:35), Rosita Rota Gelpi (16:38), Anna Incerti (16:42) and Silvia Weissteiner (16:42) followed in that order.
